LangBox International offer on Sun Platform

The Solaris Operating Environment is the Unix Operating systems running on Sun SPARC servers and Workstations. Sun also provides an Intel X86 version of Solaris. The Solaris Operating Environment provide a reliable, high-performance, scalable, and secure platform on which to develop and deploy desktop and server applications. The Solaris Operating Environment includes:

• The core operating system, which includes the kernel, APIs, commands and libraries
• Networking software based on open standards, such as TCP/IP and NFS to ensure interoperability with other platforms
• Java(TM) Virtual Machine that includes the Java(TM) Development Kit (JDK) for writing and optimizing Java applications running on Solaris
• Reliability, Availability, and Servicability (RAS) features such as Dynamic Reconfiguration (DR) and system diagnostic and analysis tools
• Support for both SPARC and Intel, and 32- and 64-bit hardware
• CDE/Desktop that includes the X11/Motif windowing environment and graphical user interface
